RESPONSIBLE SOURCING

Supporting labor rights and transparency throughout our supply chain
Snowboarder freestyle riding

As a Certified B Corporation, we’re proud to be part of a community of companies working together for change, and taking part in collective action to advocate for a shared goal of a global economy that benefits people and the planet. Our responsibility extends from taking care of our employees to creating higher standards of living for the people in our supply chain. We’re committed to fair labor practices, and we proudly back this up with an accreditation from the Fair Labor Association. To ensure we’re sourcing responsibly, we build long-term partnerships with our suppliers and work with them to improve social and environmental performance. We’re continually enhancing our standards to increase transparency and traceability throughout our supply chain. Check out our 2025 Impact Report to learn more.

Fair Labor Association Accredited

In 2020, Burton became an accredited member of the Fair Labor Association (FLA), a nonprofit that promotes human rights at work. FLA is an international network of companies, universities, and civil society organizations collaborating to ensure that millions of people working at the world’s factories and farms are paid fairly and protected from risks to their health, safety, and well-being. Earning Fair Labor Accreditation is a rigorous, multi-year process. It includes evaluation of areas ranging from the commitment of our company’s leadership to fair labor standards, to our implementation of systems designed to ensure that our factories provide decent and humane working conditions. Burton’s  Code of Conduct  and  Supply Chain Sustainability Standards (‘Standards’) follow the FLA Benchmarks and align with the International Labor Organization, UN Guiding Principles, and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. These policies outline specific expectations around labor practices and ensure that we do business with suppliers who align with our values and share our commitment to respecting workers’ rights.

Fair Labor Accreditation verifies that our company has systems in place to protect the workers who manufacture our products, based on the Fair Labor Association’s internationally recognized labor standards. We are proud to be part of this global movement to protect workers in international supply chains. Worker Wellbeing

We build deep, long-lasting relationships with our suppliers and factories to ensure we’re doing right by workers throughout the supply chain. This allows us to work in close partnership to develop positive labor practices and raise the standards of living for the people that make Burton products possible. We actively engage with suppliers to help implement the workplace standards outlined in the Burton Code of Conduct and monitor our partner suppliers regularly.

We also recognize that our sourcing decisions can have a direct impact on worker well-being, so our social impact team works closely with quality and supply chain departments to align our purchasing practices with our brand values.

Fair Compensation

As a brand committed to making a positive impact, we recognize fair compensation as an essential element of responsible sourcing. We monitor our suppliers to ensure factory workers are given legally mandated minimum and overtime wage standards. But we recognize that these wages do not always cover basic needs. The International Labor Organization (ILO) has declared living wages a fundamental human right—and we agree. Our goal is for all Burton employees, contractors, and workers at our major supplier factories to be paid a living wage.

As Fair Labor Association members, we calculate ‘living wage’ using the Global Living Wage Coalition’s (GLWC) living wage benchmarks, which use the globally recognized and respected Anker methodology to determine living wages. Advancing living wages requires industry-wide collaboration, which is why we partner with the Fair Labor Association and peer brands to advocate for stronger wage legislation in key manufacturing regions and drive meaningful, systemic change through collaborative efforts.

Supply Chain Traceability

Burton partners with trusted suppliers who demonstrate regularly that their operations meet Fair Labor Association standards. To increase supply chain transparency, we share our active Tier 1 factory list annually and have mapped the majority of our materials to the Tier 2 level. While we work to map our entire supply chain to Tier 2, we require end-to-end traceability of high-risk materials. We review and update our list of high-risk materials, which are defined in our Standards, annually. Our suppliers agree to hold themselves and any vendor they work with to our Standards.

      Burton Room to Grow

      What is Room-to-Grow?

Growth spurts happen. Room-to-Grow helps you stay one step ahead.

Available in select kids’ jackets, pants, and snowboard boots, we’ve pioneered simple, built-in features to extend sizes, so it’ll fit your growing rider for longer.

Key Components of the Room-to-Grow System include:

Extendable sleeves: Kids’ jackets with the Room-to-Grow feature have sleeves that can be extended 1.5 inches (4cm).

Extendable pant legs: Kids’ snow pants with the Room-to-Grow feature have legs that can be extended 1.5 inches (4cm).

Interchangeable footbeds: Kids’ snowboard boots that feature Room-to-Grow have a removable footbed and a secondary integrated footbed to expand boots one full size.

      How it Works

How to Extend Kids' Snow Pants

Growth spurt? No problem. To add up to 2 inches of extra length, locate the red stitching inside the pant cuffs and carefully remove it. A little extra room goes a long way when kids seem to grow overnight.

How to Extend Kids' Snow Jackets

When sleeves start feeling a little short, Room-to-Grow makes it easy to add up to 2 inches of extra length. Simply locate the red stitching inside the sleeve cuffs and carefully remove it to release the extra room hidden within.

How to Extend Kids' Snowboard Boots

Get up to one full size more with Room-to-Grow snowboard boots. When growing feet need a little extra room, simply remove the smaller footbed insert to create additional space while maintaining cushioning and comfort.
